If I remember, without looking for confirmation... You hold the rank of sergeant because you are a FTL but your billet will remain corporal because that is your true rank

It's like an honorary sort of thing to accompany your leading position

Private 1st Class can also be Fireteam Leaders ...this is the new Fireteam Leader Rank and Billet Insigina
