You guys need to be patient. Xbox live is up (theoretically) 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. In total it may be down for maybe 1-2 weeks for a full 24 hours a year which in the grand scheme of things isn't to shabby. Yeah it's annoying but we need to be patient in our instant gratification society
